72 HOUR WORK WEEk

The subject of this pretty much is the all encompassing situation of my life. I thought 60 hours was stretching a work week as far as it could go. It is not. Apparently you can get 72 hours if you just got there at 8:30AM and don't leave until 10:00PM. How wonderous. What beauty life beholds.

I have seen the Departed and The Queen. The Queen was clever but not my type of film. The Departed was pretty OK. It had some odd moments that were cracking everyone up which I didn't think were particularly funny. There was one really hillarious thing though, which was Marky Mark's page boy hair cut. It was silly to say the least.

Lost has been delivering NOTHING. To the fullest extent. When will something amazing please happen. I have been waiting. I think I am starting to figure out that you let your friends make their appointment TV with Lost when it is actually airing and then when the seasons over you compile the level of greatness and watch it on DVD if it is all that great.

And other than that I am not seeing much of LA really at all because of being indoors and working at a desk all day. I have made a vow to start writing something that will be somewhat decent and of course to try to look on the brightside. Though I think I am allergic to it.

Thanks Love,
Abbe

WELL
We'll see if anyone checks out this post. Prob not because no one subscribes to my LJ anymore becuase I never write in it. And i never write in it because no one subscribes to it so you see its a vicious cycle. Things about me that are serious and real are that I live in LA. I live on the corner of SUNSET BLVD and FAIRFAX DR. In a really amazingly large place that I will be sharing with my editor and long time cohort TORI MAUCH. She will be here on OCT 1st to share in all the fun that LA offers.

I have a job. Its not a job where I am directing movies but it is one where I am getting my foot in what is to be considered the door. It will take a year to jam my foot in the actual door and then when I do that I am responsible for prying it open. And thats all there is to say of that.

I really love LA a lot I have to say. I live in a great area most peeps can hang SOME CAN NOT. SOME DEFINATELY CAN NOT. Like this one 13 year old who was walking with a 10 year old on WILSHIRE the other day and announced that BOSA NOVA is the "Best fucking restaurant in the world." That girl can not hang.

Im missing my homeis from SAV very very badly. You are always in my mind. This is the truth. We did have something that is not offered in the real world it is called a genuine, creative understanding of the world around us and its elements in which they fit between us. I miss you all very much. This is no joke. This is a serious statement and should be though of with the utmost regard for its meaning.

PLEASE COME VISIT US IN LA. YOU ARE WANTED. NEEDED. LOVED and ACCEPTED.

CELEBRITIES I HAVE SEEN ON THE STREET AND OTHERWISE:
for those that enjoy this sort of thing

Jason Schwartzman: Once at the West Hollywood Gateway and once at the Century City Shopping mall.
Mike White: Seeing Talledega Nights at the Century City theater.
Ron Jeremy: When I was opening a checking account yesterday at the Bank of America by my house.
Robert Downy Jr.: at the In-N-Out Burger on Sunset with his wife and son (from a previous marriage)
Nick: From last season of Project Runway. In the car on the way home from the Bridge theater.
Dr. Rey's wife: From Dr. 9021oh.
Brandon Routh: He plays kickball opposite my dear friend Jeremy Silver. He is hoss at about 6'5"
Kumar: From Harold and Kumar go to White Castle fame.
AND THATS ALL.

In short. I saw Walk The Line tonight. I enjoyed it. I was entertained. I certainly learned some facts and enjoyed fun no-big-deal walk ons like Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis oh and Buddy Holly. Its fun to see how they are portrayed in the film. Reese Witherspoon really was good, I must say and cute as a button. She had a great accent...very accurate and would makes them southerners proud I would think.

I am gonna be honest though while watching the film there were some Ray-esque moments. What I mean by that is seriously very much like Ray. I don't want to spoil events for those who have not engaged in it yet.

Real Facts:
I have won two scrabble games in a row.
My hair is now at an awkward length.
Parking tickets in Chicago are very seriously expensive.
The Gap has discontinued SLIM FIT jeans...which is really no good for us or them.
This is a prrreeeettttyyy ppprrreeety funny site.
IF YOU REMEMBER DUCK TALES

Also I have compiled a short spackling of photos from the break.
VAT IS VINTER?

Dear LOVEs and LoST ONEs,
I have started my script. I remeber telling some people my original concept and well, I changed it completely. It is a story about a behemouth of a man named appropriately DarLing, or at least that is what everyone calls him. His mother is dying in their decrepid plantation house and her dying wish is that DarLing will reconcile with his minister father who had him wrongfully imprisoned for a crime that he himself had actually commited. Redemtion. Love. Loyalty. Loss. You know how these things go.

I am now half way into the first draft which is going slow and raw but has some polished stones within it.
I have also shot and edited a video for my friend Rotman's birthday, which is next week. Courtney will be going to Seattle and then Boulder and will give her the gift.

LAST NIGHT I WON ANOTHER KARAOKE CONTEST AND COLLECTED 75 BONES.

Mark Wetzel, Dan Leu, Courtney Reagor, Matt Panetti and myself were all respectively there. Mark also took home 25 dollars cash. Next week there is a duets contset for 10,000 dollars. The stakes are huge. If you have a suggestion for a song that Mark and I could dominate please leave it in my comments portion of today's newsletter.

Movies left to see:
Junebug
The Constant Gardener
The Brothers Grimm
Saraband (the new Igmar Bergman film)

TOP CD'S:
Sigur Ros - Takk and ()
Fiona Apple - Extrodinary Machine
Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans
Joanna Newsom - Walnut Whales
You Me and Everyone We Know - Michael Andrews
AND Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill Unplugged NO NO THAT'S JUST A JOKE... seriously the whole CD is one big joke.

LOLA and MARGILLS.
sorry about Katrina...
I love you.

MISS YOU MUSTARD MOUNTAINS IN SAV
912 FO LIFE

"You can Get up To 10,000 songs"
hey baby, lets make more tapes...

I need to start writing but can't yet. I don't know what is holding me back but undoubtedly something is. I know it will happen in time. I must motivate myself and thus I have started reading again. I am reading a few different things and will soon decide to go full force with one of them.

The first one of which I am almost finished is called Freakenomics by Steven D. Levitt aned Stephen J. Dubner (what I call the two Steves). At any rate I don't know how familiar anyone here is with the world of economics but it is a pretty weighty subject that deserves much heed and attention. Ben Stein is actually an economist, little known fact. So in the book they talk about the adolescent crime rate skyrocketing in the year 1995 and how it was predicted by all the major newstations that in the coming years this rate would go further and further up. By 1998 it was cut in half. How, you ask. My friends they call in ROE V. WADE. That's right women who were living in poverty and having children in a world where not even they could afford to live had bread some pretty heavy criminals. So in short the decesion to make abortion legal meant that the adolescents that would be commiting crimes were never born.
GOD READ IT. It's fascinating.

The other two I am starting are:

Children Playing Before A Statue of Hercules which has multiple authors including Lorrie Morre, Yeates and Joyce Carrol Oates. (Its short stories if you haven't guessed)

Killing Ourselves to Live by Chuck Closterman

Other than that I have been needlessly thrifting and sipping drinks and trying to start to work out and missing all my L.A. darlings and loving my Savannah ones.
COURTNEY IS HOME AND LOUIS IS SLEEPING

I'm back. Felt like dropping a line in on the preverbal internet community as it were. I am still in Savannah and working at THE LADY AND SONS. I am a bartender there and encourage y'all to come down and have a butter cake or something.

Jeremy and I are writing the diptych that will change the meaning of SCAD film and hope that everyone will be a part of the event.

Movie's of the realm that I have seen lately include:

High Tension (gore galore, but for real. GOOD FUN but expect blood bitches)

Lords of Dogtown ( I've had better but what can you do?, some hilarious over the top moments courtesy of frizziest human playing Tony Alva)

Night of the Demon ( thought it'd be a fun tongue and cheek horror cheese fest, no tongue no cheek no fun)

Cindarella Man ( great boxing, okay movie)

Aguirre The Wrath of God ( unbelievably interesting, great tone and dynamic characters)

Thanks to all your love and support Team Calculan is now back in action. With Calculan being somewhat of a boys club there is discussion over lighting setups as to how hot Swedish girls are. But none the less, camera tests are being had and D.Sharps documentary on the Trustees Theater will soon be under way. We will be investing in matching track suits and wristbands. If you ask who is the brains behind Calculan, there is none. There is just the Calculan.

Johnny Walker Blue

Since working at a bar I've become very obsessed with expensive and fine alcohol. I know this has to slow down because when I get to Savannah I will not have the means nor the way to purchase these items. So tonight, seeing as its Christmas, my family and I went to the China Grill. China Grill is a place that we discovered in New York and then heard that they had built one in Chicago. The place is fucking great. The food there is this asian fusion, but really good. Lobster Pancakes were had, those are my favorite. But before that I convinced my dad to let me have a Johnny Walker Blue on the rocks. Here's the thing. This is a fucking awesome scotch but it runs at about $34 a pop. My dad also ordered one. Our bar bill was insane because my dad had another scotch and my mom had a couple cosmos and the house vodka there is SKYY just to show you what we're looking at. But anyways I got a little wasted and fell dead asleep when I got home. I have just forced myself out of bed and will probably enjoy the evening with my fair maiden Gwenivere.

Saw Million Dollar Baby this afternoon.
Eastwood is a more fascinating director than anyone could have possibly imagined. With insanely powerful performances by not only Eastwood but Swank and Morgan Freedman, this really is one to see. God there is so much I want to say but you really do have to see it. One thing I will express is that the establishment of the characters was right on. I have been noticing that sometimes this element is lacking in films I have seen recently.

See it and we'll talk.

For all of you who couldn't figure it out. I started Jerome on his intense and passionate roll to geek stardom. I am the one who told him to stop writing so often and please no deeply personal entries like his "love hurts" anthology from the other day. You all know that somewhere in that sea of questions I am personally and politically involved. Basically, you can all write whatever you want. It doesn't mean that people have to like it. And if they don't like it and they let you know thats also the risk you take by telling the world your life story one day at a time, on the internet no less. So if you choose to post, you can reap the benefits of these cute little comments or you might get one once in a while that is not so cute, and thats a part of it too.

I saw "Bad Education" and "A Very Long Engagement" today.

Engagement was a good Jeunet flick except for the fact that it was indeed very long. It was visually pleasing and I enjoyed the war footage (which could be considered a new thing for him). But I needed much more establishing information concerning the love between Manet and Matilde. Even though I thought they were both adorable, I felt that if the whole film was going to be centered around Matilde's search for her long lost lover I needed more that the typical Jeunet type anecdotes about they're relationship.

Bad Education was really great. Almodovar is a fantastic director who really has an intense yet subtle technique. This is indeed his darkest film to date but definately worth seeing. Part Noir, part thriller, part drama. It has more that enough to keep you entertained and guessing.

Here I am.
Just wanted you all to know that I wasn't lost or stolen. I have been working quite a bit at this Chineese Restaurant that is the fucking bomb. The food there is fabulous. And I can eat as often and as much as I want. The best things so far have been the cherry bomb shrimp and the general tso's chicken. They are mouth watering. I am bartending so I also make myself wonderful concoctions. When I am working I like to drink the passion limeade. Been seeing old friends and laughing it up in the mean time before I head back to Savanny.

Films that need to be seen:
(if you've seen them you can gloat for no more that one sentence)

"A Very Long Engagement"
"The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou"
"A Tale of Two Sisters"
"Million Dollar Baby"

Here is a handy link if you want to take a look at the restaurant:
< ahref= http://www.dinesite.com/images/photos/cnet/2217.jpg >

LOUF Y'ALL
